Dear Butte County Board of Supervisors:
OROVII,LE, CALIFOR~}1A
The Northern California Water Association ("NCWA") anal water resources managers throughout the
Sacramento Valley are embarking on an aggressive effort to foster regional sustainability in the
Sacramento Valley. Late last year the water resources managers commissioned Grant Davids, working
with C132MIii.11 and MBK Engineers, to explore water use efficiency in the Sacramento Valley. The
ensuing report characterizes the hydrologic setting in the region and provides a technical framework to
guide water use efficiency efforts. More specifically, the report provides water resources managers with
tools to identify, assess, and pursue specific water use efficiency opportunities with an overarching goal
to achieve regional sustainability with respect to water resources.
We are enclosing Ef}tcient Water Management:.lnvesting in California's Future: Highlights of the
Ef~ j'icient Water Management for Regional Sustainabiliry in the Sacramento Yalley Report. This Report
provides an overview of water management activities in the Sacramento Valley and it summarizes the
findings in the technical report described above. The detailed technical report is available for review on
our homepage at www.norcalwater.o~.
The Northern California Water Association (NCWA) is committed to advance the economic, social and
envirolamental sustainability of the Sacramento Valley by enhancing and preserving its water rights,
supplies and water quality for the rich mosaic of farmlands, cities and rural communities, refuges and
managed wetlands, and meandering rivers that. support fisheries and wildlife. These reports are part of our
ongoing effort to continually improve water management to promote regional sustainability and ensure
that adequate water supplies are available for all uses in the Sacramento Valley.
