Dear Mayor Morgan and Board of Supervisors of Butte County County:
Pursuant to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification ("WARN") Act,
29 U.S.C. § 2101, et seq. and California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification
Act,Labor Code 1400-- 1408 LC,this letter is being issued to notify you that,due to market
conditions, Orchard Supply Company, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of Lowe's
Companies, Inc.) is permanently closing its retail store facility located at 231 West East
Avenue, Chico, CA 95926. The closing will be effective at the conclusion of businees
needs, but will not be prior to October 20, 2018.
This closure will affect the entire facility. As a result of the closing, the
employment of all employees at that facility will be terminated. See attached exhibit for a
list of job titles and number of employees in each role that will be affected at this location.
Please be advised that by separate correspondence, we will provide notice to the State
Rapid Response Coordinator.
The Orchard facility is a non-union facility and bumping rights do not exist.
To the extent that this closure constitutes a covered event under the federal WARN
Act or similar state or Iocal laws, this Ietter is intended to fulfill the requirements imposed
under such laws, but by providing this information we do not admit that such laws apply
or that notice is required.
