AN ORDINAACE CL03ING THE SOUTHWESTERLY APPROACH
TO SANDY GULCH BRIDGE FROM WEST LINDO AVENUE
WHEREAS, the California Highway Patrol and the bivision of 3ighways of the State
of California has called to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,
State of California, a potentially dangerous situation resulting from an abrupt approach
from West Lindo Avenue onto the Sandy Gulch Bridge, situate in the County of Butte, State of'
California, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of said Bu and of Supervisors of tne� County of Butte, State
of California, to eliminate such dangerous condition.
NOW, TLEaEFORE, the Board of 6upervisors of the County of Butte, State of California,
do ordain as follows:
That the approach from West Lindo Avenue onto the Sandy Gulch Bridgo over what is
1rnoyrn as Lindo Channel, be closed.
This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after passage and before the ex-
piration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, it shall be published,with the names of the
,uembers voting for and against the same, at least once in ThE CHICO RECOHI), a newspaper pub-
lished in the County of Butte.
ADOPTED AND PA88ED by the Board of Supervisors of the Cronty of Butte, State of

BE REFERRED TO THE BUTTE COUNTY PLANNING
COI'MISSION FOR RECOMMENDATIONS PRIOR TO AP-
PROVAL BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF BUTTE
The'' Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte does ordain as follows:
l: • That' any Subdivision Map requiring the approval of the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, as required by the "Subdivision Map Act", Part 2, Division 4, of the Business
and Professions Code of the State of California, or any other statute or constitutional pro-
vision of the State of California, shall first be submitted to the Planning Commission of the
County of Butte,
2: The Planning Commission of the County of Butte, shall, at the earliest possible time,
return and resubmit said Subdivision Map to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,
together with' its approval, disapproval, or recommended changes, for final action by said
Board of Supervisors of the said County of Butte.
The foregoing Ordinance was passed and adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, on the 8th day of November, 1948, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Byerly, Corcoran, Pellicciotti, and Chairman Pro-Tem Patty.
NOES: Supervisors - None

APPOINTIVE COUNTY OFFICERS AND DESIGNATING THE NUMBER
OF AND PROVIDING FOR THE SALAZES OF ALL ASSISTANTS,
DEPUTIES, CLERKS, ATTACHES, EMPLOYZSS AND OTHER PER—
SONS EMPLOYED IN ALL THE OFFICES, DEPARTMENTS AND
!NSTITUTIOUS OF THE COUNTI OF BUTTE, AND PROVIDING
RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATING THERETO AND REPEALING
ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT THEREIng.T11.
The BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of the COUNTY OF 3UTTE, State of California, does ordain as
follows
-
SECTION 1. Subject to the provisions hereinafter set forth, the salaries of appointive
county officers, and the salaries of all assistants, deputies, clerks, attaches, employees
and other persons employed in all the offices, departments and institutions of the County of
Butte, and the number thereof, are hereby fixed as set forth in the schedules in the c,ectionas
following.
31SCTION 2. Except where otherwise indicated in the following sections, the compensa-
tions herein provided shall be deemed to mean the salary per month. The salaries of all.
appointive county officers and of all assistants, deputies, clerks, attaches, employees and
other persons employed in all offices, departments and institutions of the County of lutte,
as fixed in the following sections shall be paid in eqml monthly installments.
36'CTION 3. A fund to be known and designated as the SALARY FUND is Hereby created and
establi6hed, and all fees paid into the County Treasury, except that portion allocated to the
Law Library, shall be set apart therein as a separate fund. Should, in the opinion of the
Auditor, the fees to be collected be not sufficient to pay the salaries or compensation to be
paid out of said fund, it shall become the duty of the Board of Supervisors at the time the
tax levy is made to estimate such deficiency and raise it by direct taxes, the same as other
funds.
The salaries and compensations provided for in the following sections, except as here-
inafter provided, shall be paid monthly out of the SALARY FUND of the County. Treasury, except-
ing however, the salaries and compensation set frith and provided for in SECTIONS 14, 26A, 28,
28A, 29, 34A and 35, provided, however, that no salaries or compensation provided for or fixed'
in this ordinance shall be paid out of said SALARY FUND, when by the provisions or laws of the '.
State of California, such compensation or salaries are to be paid out of any other fund or
money.
SECTION 4. Whenever by this ordinance the title or compensation of any position in
existence immediately prior to the time this ordinance goes into effect, is changed, ;
such change of title or compensation shall in no way affect the tenure of the person
holding such position, or his right to compensation as in this ordinance provided.
SECTION 5.
1. County officers and employees who have been continually employed by the County',
of Butte for one year, or more, shall be entitled to sick leave with pay, not to exceed, how-
ever, thirty (30) days in any calendar year, provided that said officers and employees shall
establish by a certificate of a duly licensed and practicing physician that they are wholly
incapacitatedfrom performing any duties of their employment, and provided further that sick
leave with pay shall not be allowed for the first seven (7) days of any one illness.
Sick leave with pay shall not be allowed for confinement by reason of child-
birth or for injuries corapensable under the Workmen's Compensation Act.
B. The officers and heads of departments of the County shall immediately notify
the county Auditor and the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, in writing, of the absence of any,
employee, when said employee shall have been absent from work or employment by reason of ill-
ness.
G. Whenever it shall become necessary to employ a person, or persons, to take
the position of an employee incapacitated from performing any duties of his or her employment,
pursuant to SECTION 5A hereof, or to take the position of any employee on vacation, pursuant
to SECTION 5B4hereof, said person or persons so employed shall receive the same salary or com-
pensation as tihe person incapacitated, as provided in SECTION 5A hereof, or on vacation as
provided in SECTION 513 hereof, and said salary or compensation shall be paid from the same
fund from which said person or persons so incapacitated, or on vacation, were receiving salary
or compensation.
SECTION 6. All ordinances and resolutions inconsistent with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby -repealed.

SECTION 7. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, or phrase of
;this ordinance; is, for any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional, such inw*lidty or
;unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of the remaining por-
,tions of this ordinance, it being hereby expressly provided that this ordinance and each sec-
ition, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase thereof would have been adopted ir-
respective of ;the fact that any one or more other sections, subsections, paragraphs, sentences, ',
clauses or phrases be declared invalid or unconstitutional.

Fifteen days notice must be given in advance to change status
from living in or out of the hospital.
Changes can be made at the beginning of a month only.
The number and salaries of employees .fisted pursuant to 5ECTIONS 2$
and 26A shall be subject to change by :a three-fifths (9/5th5) vote
of the Board of Supervisors to comply with rates and scales of pay
fixed by Federal., State, and County laws and trade rules and reg-
ulations established affecting said employees.

SECTION 35 SUPERVISORS
Thenever, in the judgment of the Board of Supervisors, it Ls, necessary for the
expeditious transactions of the business of the County the Board of Supervisors, by four-
fifths (4/5ths) vote, may provide for and allow additional assistants to any County Officer,
Department or Institution, including the Board of Supervisors. In any such case, the Board
of Supervisors M13 fix the amount of compensation of such additional employees and shall,
limit, in advance, the period of time for which such ass-itance is allowed. Tho nowprs
granted to the Supervisors under the provisions hereof shall not be so exercised as to re--
sult in increasing the coTpensetion of any County Officer after his election, or during his
term of office, nor exercised as to result in increasing the compensation of any assistant,
deputy clerk, attache, employee, or other person employed in the County whose salary is
hereby fixed.
SZCTION 36
Whenever as sliding scale is set up in this Ordinance, any salary above the min-
imum shall be first approved by a three-fifths (3/5ths) vote of the Board of Supervisors.
Thia Ordinance shall take effect July lot, 1949, arid be in force froyn and after
date of its passage, and before the ezpiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage it
shall be published with the names of the members voting for and against the same, once K
some newspaper, pub.lished in the County of Butte.
