Lucero_„_~.,.a~.~...~,~~..~_~.~._~-,.r,~,,~„~~a~ CHAMBER of COMMERCE June 14, 2012 Dear Butte County Supervisors, I am writing to express the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce's support for Debra Lucero in her position as the Executive Director for the Butte County Economic Development Corporation (BCEDC} and to request the Board of Supervisors' and Butte County's continued fiscal support of this organization. BCEDC has been a key player in several areas of economic development strategies in our region. Debra has successfully brought business producers and consumers together in her "speed dating" events. Through her quarterly meetings in various areas of the county, she has brought business owners, municipal employees, non --profits and businesses to the table, thereby increasing communication among these varied entities. On a personal level, i have been able to meet and talk with representatives from Gridley, Chico and Paradise. Our paths would very likely never have crossed without the help of BCEDC. I find that f look forward to these meetings as a way of getting a finger on the pulse of our entire region, rather than having familiarity with only my own community. I believe that, with the support of Butte County, BCEDC has gotten off to a very strong start. If economic development is truly a goal for this region, we should walk the walk as well as talk the talk and continue to support these efforts that make real progress toward the goal of growing our economic strength. Through our relationship with BCEDC and Debra, our business prospects have been broadened, allowing us to make better use of the resources in our region. Regional bridges are being built. 1 am asking you to continue Butte County's financial support of the Butte County Economic Development Corporation. Thank you for your time and consideration.
