NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
AREA 14 & 15 ISLAND ANNEXATIONS
NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Oroville will hold a public
hearing on November 20, 2007, at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 1735 Montgomery Street,
Oroville, California, 95965. The hearing will be to consider the proposal to initiate annexation of
those properties identified as "City of Oroville Annexation Area 14 & 15". Area 14 is located on the
northeast corner of Brookdale Drive and Claremont Drive, adjacent to the southern portion of the
Oroville City Limits, and within the City's Sphere of Influence. Area 15 is located between Oroville
Dam Blvd and Oro Quincy Hwy,property at the end of Ford Drive (which divides the property).
The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments from owners of property within the area
proposed for annexation prior to adoption of a resolution initiating annexation proceedings.
The City proposes to initiate this annexation of inhabited territory by resolution of the City Council
of the City of Oroville pursuant to California State Government Code Section 6375.5 providing for
the annexation of"islands" of unincorporated territory completely or substantially surrounded by
properties within the City limits. This section of state law provides an alternate process which
allows the Local Agency Formation Commission(LAFCo)to approve an annexation without regard
to protests. Notice of this hearing is provided pursuant to Government Code Sections 56153 and
56154, as required by Section 56755.
Any person may appear at the hearing and present testimony. Written comments may also be
submitted in advance of the hearing, addressed to the City Clerk, City of Oroville, 1735
Montgomery Street, Oroville, California, 95965. Additional information regarding this proposal
may be obtained by contacting the Community Development Department at the same address or
calling 538-2401.
