On behalf of the Butte County Board of Supervisors and the Butte County Fire Department, thank you for
your assistance during our recent discussions with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA}
regarding our eligibility to receive funding from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response
(SAFER) grant program. The time you took to discuss the regulations with staff was important in our
understanding of the situation.
The Fining by the FEMA Legal office was tremendous news for Butte County. The re-hiring of eleven fire
fighting personnel will enhance the Butte County Fire Department's ability to protect the health and safety of
the public, and help protect firefighting personnel facing f re and fire-related hazards. We Look forward to
working with FEMA on the implementation of the grant and re-hiring the personnel we so desperately need.
Thank you again for listening to our clarification and explanation and helping us ensure that our citizens are
well protected.
