Draft Environmental Impact Report
Available for the State Route 32 Widening Project for Review and Comment
What is the project?
The City of Chico, in cooperation with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), is
proposing to widen and improve approximately 2.6 miles of State Route 32 between State Route 99
and Yosemite Drive. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide additional capacity needed as a
result of approved and planned development adjacent to the State Route 32 corridor.
What is the purpose of this public notice?
Caltrans and the City have studied the effects that this project may have on the environment. The
Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) identifies that the project would result in the following
significant and unavoidable environmental impacts: permanent changes to views and the loss of trees
in the short-term until replacement trees mature. Other project-related environmental impacts would
be mitigated to a less-than-significant level with implementation of the recommended mitigation
measures.
This notice is to inform you that the DEIR is completed and available for your review and comments.
Your comments will become part of the public record. if you wish to make a comment on the DEIR,
you may submit your written or electronic comments no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday April 12, 2010

Comments received on the Draft EIR will be responded to in a Final EIR that will be presented to the
City Council in the coming months. The Council will act upon the project and recommended mitigation
measures within the EIR defining the ultimate project design.
Where can I review the Draft Environmental,Impact Report?
Beginning on February 25, 2010, you can review or obtain a copy of the DEIR at the City offices on
weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.:

A copy of the DEIR will also be available for review at the Butte County Library, Chico Branch; 1108
Sherman Avenue; Chico, CA 95926.
