Dear Friend:
I'm writing to ask for your financial support for the Butte 2-1-1 Helpline during the City of
Chico Community Grant campaign.
Many of you know 2-1-1 as a valuable community resource in Butte County, linking
people in need to services that can help. Butte 2-1-1 has answered the call for help from
more than 23,000 of our community members. Each caller is an individual or family
member who seeks assistance finding and accessing essential health and human
services. The circumstances vary, but the need is the same-"Where can I find help?" 2-
1-1 is here 24 hours a day, everyday to assist anyone with getting the help they need. 2-
1-1 is always a free, confidential, and multilingual service.
I
Butte 2-1-1 connects people to emergency shelter and housing, food and other basic
needs, health care and mental health services, programs for children and famiilies,
veterans services, substance abuse treatment, elder support services, transportation,
and more. During the Oroville Dam spillway evacuation in February of this year, Butte 2-
1-1 answered more than 1000 calls in the first hours and throughout the night, providing
live, heip to residents needing urgent evacuation and shelter information. Everyday and
during emergencies, Butte 2-1-1 links people to available services and helps individuals
and families avoid further crisis, build resilience, and discover new options for moving
forward.
As a grant funded local service, Butte 2-1-1 must also rely on donations from businesses,
community members, and patrons to operate the 24-hour live helpline and to maintain the
free online searchable community resource database at www.HellpCentral.org. Your
support is a crucial part of our ability to serve our community. With your donation made
before August 31, Butte 2-1-1 will receive a funding match from the City of Chico
Community Grant.
