4.03 A. Letter of Support for AB 3012 - Beach Nourishment Act -Staff requests approval of a
letter of support for AB 3012 (Gallagher),which addresses beach erosion by authorizing
the State of Coastal Conservancy, through its Climate Ready Program, to fund multi-
benefit projects that remove sediment if the sediment can be used for beach
nourishment. Funding could be instrumental in post-disaster sediment removal such as
excavating sediment build-up along the Feather River after the 2017 Oroville Dam
Spillway failure —action requested -APPROVE LETTER AND AUTHORIZE THE CHAIR TO
SIGN. (County Administration)
B. Letter of Support for AB 3045 - Dam Supervision -Conflict of Interest -Staff requests
approval of a letter of support for AB 3045 (Gallagher), which would move the
supervision of dams and reservoirs from the Department of Water Resources to the
Division of Safety of Dams within the Department of Natural Resources. This would
prevent a potential conflict of interest in which the Department of Water Resources
acts as both the owner and regulator of certain facilities—action requested -APPROVE
LETTER AND AUTHORIZE THE CHAIR TO SIGN. (County Administration)
