Sierra Pacific Industries is aware that the Community Development Service has been discussing these regulations with stakeholder groups that these regulations affect, we applaud this outreach. Sierra Pacific Industries relies on contractors that in many instances live in rural areas and most must be able to park equipment, loaded and unloaded trucks, etc. at their place of residence in order to continue operating. The practice of storing and use of heavy equipment in rural areas has been a standard practice for as long as timber harvesting and those contract loggers have been conducting this important work. This use of these rural lands has resulted in few conflicts and we do not foresee any#hing that would necessitate a change in regulations to "head ofP' some anticipated change from the current status quo. In order for contractors to remain competitive and support our commercial timber operations Sierra Pacific Industries is in favor of the responsible use, maintenance and storage.of heavy equipment for both personal and business enterprises throughout rural zone designa#ions, with no restrictions. Additional regulations that restrict contractors from storing heavy equipment at their place of residence could have a serious detrimental effect on their business operations and consequently the management'of our timberland. For these reasons Sierra Pacific Industries asks for the support of the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors to make the use and storage of heavy equipment an allowed use that is accessary to alf rural zones.
