Subject: Thanks from a library patron
I understand from the Friends of the Library that we have you two to thank for encouraging the Board of Supervisors to
contrbute money to keep the Chico library open on Mondays. I am a frequent library user (started over 50 years ago as
a girl in Seattle), plus a volunteer and a contributor to the Friends of the library. When I am in the library, I am always
struck by the number of people, and the diversity of people, who use the library. It is a vital part of our community, and
a lifeline far those who are seeking work, additional skills or knowledge. I wish those who think libraries are somehow
'optional" for a sound community and for a democracy would spend several hours in them to see how they are really
used.
