RE -INSPECTION DATE: January 23, 2002 Mr. Bob Saville, Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor Golden Feather Elementary Schools 11679 Nelson Bar Road Yankee Hill, CA 95965 Dear Bob, During the recent fire inspection at Spring Valley School the inspection team noticed several problems in room 4. They called me for clarification on their concerns. I was able to visit the school late one day last week and the custodian allowed me into the room. The basic problem is an overabundance of storage. All storage must be at least 24" from the ceiling in a non-sprinklered building. In addition as is noted on the electrical circuit panel door an area at least 36" in front and 30" wide of the door (and 78" minimum headroom) must be kept clear. I also noted that a power strip/surge protector was jammed a t the wall and the computer table and loose paper surrounded it. Late in the year 2000 a similar set of problems in a Chico school provided additional fuel to an accidental fire that destroyed three classrooms and damaged the multi-purpose room. It is imperative that the instructor stores her instructional materials in a more orderly manner, perhaps in plastic or cardboard storage boxes. It is also understood that the water system may be updated in the near future to eliminate this problem either through new wells and/or the possible connection of the Del Oro Water system near Lime Saddle Marina. The following would be the minimum fire flow requirements for the school at this time: 1. A minimum of 1500 gallons per minute fire flow for at least 2 hours. 2. The water supply system shall be designed to maintain normal operating pressures of not less than 20 psig. 3.
