Gridley, CA 95948 Dear Rod, I received second and third opinions from two California ODeputy State Fire Marshals concerning the blocked exiting from your multi-purpose room. They both said that as long as one can see through the exit path to the "Public way" then the exit is legal. Therefore, based on their opinion the walk-in cooler may stay. However, per our phone conversation I do require emergency exit lighting to be placed on the cooler in the alcove. I encourage the district to move towards removing the cooler at their earliest opportunity. Sincerely, William R. Sager Fire Chief By: Steven J. The exit door widths were originally designed with the present occupant load in mind.
