Dear Mrs. Nevins,
In discussion with the Butte County Building Deparhnent we have determined that
all of the work that needs to be done at the Patrick Ranch should be coordinated
through than. It was obvious on my tour that a structural engineer needed to be
involved in the repairs and restoration of the home, especially in the attic.
Butte County has adopted the California Historical Building Code in which there
are regulations intended to provide alternative or reasonably equivalent (to the
present case) solutions for the preservation of historical buildings.
initially you will be changing the occupancy designation from an R-3 (
to an A-3 (assembly.) Just that move alone requires contact with the building
officials. Once the restoration is complete I will provide you with a final fire
inspection. Your local Butte County Fire Deparhnent engine company will conduct
an annual fire and life safety inspection.
