One of our tenants, Taqueria Palermo II, located in Suite "F", has taken the tops off of their commercial exhaust fans and replaced them with attic type exhaust fans. This poses a very definite fire danger since the attic type exhaust fans draw air directly up through the motor. In this case, cooking grease is drawn through the motor and can ignite. We currently have this tenant under a Unlawful Detainer Complaint, and I have issued them a letter (copy enclosed), instructing them not to use these fans, but they continue to do so on a daily basis. I have also attempted to contact Fire Marshall Mat Damon, once he was in training and last Friday he was in the office. Both times I was given his voice mail where I left a detailed message which included my concerns and telephone number. To date, I have not heard back from Fire Marshal Damon. I also have a vested interest in preventing a fire at the Taqueria since my business is located in Suite "G", directly next door.
