My notes of that meeting indicate that Bill Redding asked Ted Crawford to do "more checking" relative to this system and then contact Baldwin Contracting Company. If no problems were uncovered then the system would be accepted after Baldwin Contracting Company conformed to the requirements of the BCFD letter dated February 23, 1994. Having heard nothing from your office, on May 19, 1994 I sent a letter with attachments regarding all of the required items of your February 23, 1994 letter. In this letter I asked that this system be accepted for CSA #90. To date I have had no reply to my letter. I have enclosed a copy of my letter and attachments dated May 19, 1994 for your convenience. I would appreciate having somebody from the Butte County Fire Department contact me regarding this system in the near future. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Reference is made to your letter dated February 23, 1993, telephone conversations regarding costs and pump test, and our meeting at the pump site on April 1, 1993. I have enclosed a copy of two pieces of correspondence from Durham Pump. One gives the current pricing of the major components of the system and their life expectancy. The second is a maintenance proposal outlining what work Durham Pump recommends, the frequency, and the fee they would propose to charge for the work. I have enclosed a copy of a current pump test taken by Durham Pump on March 4, 1994. In accordance with our meeting at the pump site, a 6' high chain link fence with three strands of barb wire has been installed. Also installed, in the water, is a metered pole showing the number of gallons remaining in the pond from the current water level. I have enclosed copies of the electric bill from PG&E for all of 1992 and for three months of 1993. Butte County Fire Department May 19, 1994 Page 2 This takes care of all the required items in your letter and discussions on the telephone. We hereby request that this system be taken into CSR #90. The locations of hook-ups shall be determined by the Fre Department; or, (B) In ground swimming pools equipped with a drafting connection or drafting access as approved by the Fre Department; or, (C) A dry standpipe system plumbed to a reliable water source as approved by the Fre Department. Such a standpipe system will not exceed 1,000 feet in length. There must be at least 10,000 gallons of water available and strategically located for each of 10 dwellings, or portions thereof (Example: 11 dwellings would require two separated sources). Provisions must be made to insure that the water stored is always available and accessible for use under all weather conditions. The strongly recommended system is a hydrant system capable of meeting the fire flow requirements. Average required hydrant spacing feet, hydrant size inches, and residual flow gpm. If this is not technically feasible, a system involving independent pumps and static water storage may be substituted. Such a system is subject to approval of the Fire Department. The available water flow from such a system must meet the flow requirements. Provisions satisfactory to the Fire Department must be made to insure the system provided is maintained to its design capacity. Formation of a CSA or CSD is required when the system serves more than one lot. Large developments may be capable of supporting their own system. If so, each lot could have an independent system, eliminating the need for a CSA/CSD. Requirement Class 5 A pressurized community water system for fire protection is required. In lieu of bearing the cost of installing a fire hydrant(s) the developer may pay into the hydrant fund.
