Develop and Maintain a Fire Safety and Evacuation plan. The plan shall be developed to ensure that proper actions are taken in the event of an emergency and the plan shall be followed if an emergency condition occurs. Employee’s shall be trained in these procedures at orientation and not less than annually thereafter. Training records shall be maintained onsite. Submit a copy of this plan for review. Response: Helena currently maintains and is required to produce emergency plans as part of the CERS program. A copy of the plan and map are attached. 2. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) shall be readily available on the premises for hazardous materials site. Response: Helena currently maintains a SDS binder of all hazardous material onsite and is available in our main office. 3. Provide Hazard Identification signage (NFPA 704 Diamond) in accordance with the California Fire Code and NFPA 704. Response: Helena will provide the required signage on the proposed expansion prior to final occupancy. 4. Smoking shall be prohibited and “No Smoking” signs provided as follows: in rooms or areas where hazardous materials are stored or dispensed, within 25 feet of outdoor storage, dispensing or open use areas, and in rooms or areas where flammable or combustible hazardous materials are stored, dispensed or used. Facilities or areas within facilities that have been designated as totally “no smoking” shall have “No Smoking” signs placed at all entrances to the facility or area. Designated areas within such facilities where smoking is permitted either permanently or temporarily, shall be identified with signs designating that smoking is permitted in these areas only. Response: Helena will provide “No smoking” signage on the proposed building and delineate a smoking area prior to final occupancy. 5. Provide a standby power supply system with capacity sufficient to power the fire pump for a duration of eight hours. Response: Helena will provide a final plan to accommodate the loss of power to the facility and construct the necessary improvements prior to final occupancy. 6. Fire extinguishers shall be 4A 10B:C, with a travel distance no greater than 75’ from any point in the building. Extinguisher’s shall be mounted in a conspicuous place, easily accessible and readily available, and shall be along normal paths of travel. Extinguishers shall be mounted so that the top of the extinguisher is no higher than five feet above finished floor. Where extinguishers may be subject to physical damage they shall be adequately protected. Response: Helena will mount and install fire extinguishers per the comments above prior to final occupancy.
