HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-285Resolution No. �19-285 WHEREAS, on November 8, 20I8Butte County experienced the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history —the Camp Fire; and WHEREAS, more than 19,000 s,tructures were damaged or destroyed, including 14,000 homes; 85 people perished that day; and 153,33Gacres burned; and WHEREAS, County employees, community organizations, private businesses, and individuals, faith -based organizations, State and federal governments, and mutual aid partners from throughout the State and the nation, came together in emergency response, and continue to come together in recovery efforts, assisting where needed in addition totheir daily responsibilities; and WHEREAS, the Board mf Supervisors recognizes the selfless and endless giving spirit of our employees, residents, and partners; and WHEREAS, November 8, 2019 marks the one-year anniversary of the Camp Fire; and WHEREAS, the anniversary provides us an opportunity to reflect on the past year, acknowledge the challenges our communities have faced, honor those whose lives were lost, recognize our neyidemtsm/hu were harmed and/or displaced, and give thanks toall who have stepped up toassist throughout rescue, response, and recovery efforts; and WHEREAS, the anniversary also provides ms an opportunity to appreciate what our communities have accomplished, individually and collectively; and WHEREAS, esofOctober 18,2819,1O,442 properties have been certified clean throughout the Town of Paradise and the County, 178 building permit applications related to the Camp Fire have been received by the County, and 90 building permits have been issued bythe County; and WHEREAS, Butte County continues to work with and support our residents through, the recovery process asvve work to rebuild our communities, NOW, THEREFOR[ BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors in recognition of the one year anniversary of the Camp Fire do hereby proclaim the following: 1. November8 1h is recogniized as Camp Fire Remembrance Day in Butte County; and I Everyone is encouraged to take part in a moment mfs,i|ence each year on November 8m, an 11:08 AM, no 3. The public is asked to reach out and help where you can, thank those who assisted in response and recovery efforts, and embrace the compassion and resilience of Butte County and its residents.
