HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-299WHEREAS, the County of Butte offers a variety of benefits to its Regular Help employees, including, medical, dental,
vision, life insurance, long term disability, flexible/dependent spending accounts, and employee assistance program; and
WHEREAS, various plan related documents need to be reviewed and signed prior to the start of the 2020 plan
year; and
WHEREAS, each .tune CaIPERS publishes the rates for the following plan year. The Plan Rates for 2020 represent
an average overall premium increase of 15.45 percent for the HMO plan, and 2.57 percent increase for the PPO, plans.
Individual plan rates vary, and for some plans there was a decrease in rates compared to 2019;.and
WHEREAS, each August Teamsters (Delta Health Systems) will publish the rates for the following plan year. The
plan rates for 2020 represent an average overall increase of 1.13 percent. Individual plan rates vary, however for 2020
both plans were increased; and
WHEREAS, Delta Dental is the County's carrier for dental plans, the 2020 rates will increase by approximately 1.74
percent compared to the 2019 rates. Individual plan rates vary; and
WHEREAS, VSP is the County's carrier for a vision plan, the rates will remain unchanged for the plan year 2020
when compared to rates in 2019; and
WHEREAS, MetLife is the County's carrier for long term disability and life insurance, the 2020 rates for voluntary
life will decrease by 10 percent, basic life will remain unchanged, and long term disability will increase by 2.8 percent; and
WHEREAS, the County's Employee Assistance Program had high utilization in the 2019 plan year, the 2020 plan
rates will increase by 18.85 percent; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby authorize the Human
Resources [director to sign any and all benefit related documents for the 2020 plan year on behalf of the County of Butte..

fallowing vote:
