HomeMy WebLinkAbout20-008RESOLUTION IMPLEMENTING THE THREE-YEAR EXTENSION OF APPROVED TENTATIVE MAPS, VESTING TENTATIVE
MAPS AND PARCEL MAPS THAT RELATE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF SINGLE OR MULTI -FAMILY HOUSING PROVIDED BY
SECTION 66452.27 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE
WHEREAS, the Camp Fire of November 2018 is the most destructive wildfire in California History and covered
approximately 153,000 acres in Butte County, damaging or destroying more than 19,000 structures in the Town of
Paradise, the unincorporated communities of Paradise Pines, Magalia, Concow, Yankee Hill, Pulga, Butte Creek Canyon,
Butte Valley and surrounding areas, and displaced more than 14,000 families; and
WHEREAS, the Camp Fire exacerbated an existing housing shortage in unincorporated Butte County and each of
its cities resulting in the need for additional parcels to be available for the construction of single and multi -family housing;
and
WHEREAS, In order to allow the County of Butte and cities within the County of Butte to preserve development
applications that are set to expire to provide housing to persons displaced by the Camp Fire incident, Section 66452.27
was added to the Government Code to allow a legislative body located within the County of Butte to extend the expiration
date for up to 36 months of any tentative map, vesting tentative map, or parcel map for which a tentative map or vesting
tentative map, as the case may be, that was approved on or after January 1, 2006, and not later than March 31, 2019, that
relates to the construction of single or multifamily housing, and that has not expired on or before the effective date of the
act that added this section; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Development Services has identified ten approved tentative subdivision maps and
fifteen approved tentative parcel maps that that have not expired on or before the effective date of the act that added
Government Code Section 66452.27 (Exhibit A); and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby extends the expiration
date for 36 months of the tentative maps, vesting tentative maps and parcel map listed in Exhibit A, together with any
other tentative maps, vesting tentative maps and parcel maps meeting the requirements of Government Code Section
66452.27.
