HomeMy WebLinkAbout20-028WHEREAS, Butte County Code section 8-5(i) empowers the Chief Administrative Officer of the County of Butte
("County"), to proclaim a local emergency when the County is threatened by conditions of disaster or extreme peril to the
safety of persoms and property withiin the County that are or are likely to be beyond the control ufthe services, personnel,
equipment, and facilities of the County while the Board of Supervisors is not in session; and
WHEREAS, mnMarch 6,2020,the County's Assistant Chief Administrative Officer oroclai|medalocal emergency
based on, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property in the County resulting from the novel
coronavirus disease that originated in Wuhan, China, in 2019, and where such conditions are beyond the control mfthe
services, personnel, equipment, and facilities of the County and require the combined forces of other political subdivisions
tocombat. The March 6,2Q2Uproclamation is attached hereto as Exhibift A; and
WHEREAS, under Government Code section 8630the local emergency shall not remain imeffect for more than
seven: days unless ratified by the Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors hereby finds that there continues, to exist within the County conditions of
disaster or extreme peril to the safety of persons and property that are beyond the control of the services, personnel,
equipment, a nid facilities of the County, for the reasons set forth in Exhibit A;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE|T RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the Butte County Board mfSupervisors hereby ratifies
and confirms the proclamation of local emergency issued on March 6, 20,20; and
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby order the following:
1. The local emergency shall] be deemed to continue to exist until its termination;
J. The County requests the State of California 10 waive regulations that may hinder respoinse and recovery
efforts, make available assistance underthe California Disaster Assistance Actor any other state funding, a,md
toexpedite access tufederal resources and any other appropriate federal disaster relief programs (e.g.SBA
funding, etc.);
3. That during the existence of said local emergency, the powers, functions and duties of the emergency
organizaition of this County shall be those prescribed by state law, by charter, ordinances and resolutions of
4. A copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Director of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services; and
5. Cindi Dunsmoor, Emergency Services Officer of the County of Butte, is hereby designated as the authorized
representative of the County for the purpose of receipt, processing, and coordination of all inquiries and
requirements necessary to obtain available State and federal disaster assistance.

vote:
