Lock Down Procedures
Durham Recreation and Park District
A lock down emergency is put into effect once the Durham Unified School District,or Durham Recreation and Park District,enforces a
lock down emergency due to hazardous weather conditions,armed man/woman,or any other reason children may be in danger.
ASP/Kinder Club/Cubbie-Care staff would be notified of this emergency and must follow the listed steps.
1) If ASP/Cubbie Care is in/near the JBAC:
a) Program staff is to quickly gather children inside the two classrooms
b) Lock all doors and windows,and close blinds.
c) Encourage students to stay away from windows,doors and stay low to the ground
1) If ASP/Cubbie is away from JBAC(and returning to the JBAC is not an option)
a) Raveke's Park
i) Through tennis courts to DUSD District Offices
ii) Durham Vet
b) Pool area/pool area bathrooms
i) DRPD Office
ii) Pool office
iii) Room 70/71
c) Elementary School,4th and 5th Grade Playground/Basketball Courts
i) Program staff must alert children with pre-determined"emergency signal"

iii) Quickly gather children into open classroom(s)

Once the District Manager gives the okay to end the lock down emergency,doors and windows may be unlocked for parents,leaders and
children to go in and out. Proceed with the planned(or modified as needed)activities for the day.
Leaders:do your best to stay calm at all times and keep kids safe without putting yourself into danger.
