levels that established essential rights for victims;
WHEREAS, crime victims' 'htsactspassedheneimCa|dbnmiaamdmtthefedereUleoe|haveprovidedvictims
with ways to participate meaningfully throughout the criminall justice process;
WHEREAS, the rights of crime victims are best protected when all participants in the crim,inal justice process-
not
WHEREAS, for the fiscal year ending June 201B the Butte County District Attorney Victim Assistance Bureau
offered advocacy services to 3,556 local crime victims and filed 1,033 applications to the Victims' Compensation Board
paying $614,117.44onbehalf oflocal victims;
WHEREAS, we are determined to respond to crime and violence by helping victims find not only support,
recovery, and justice, but also a sense of hope for their fut�ure;
WHEREAS the Butte County District Attorney and the Victim Assistance Bureau are hereby dedicated to
strengthening victims and survivors in the aftermath of crime, building resilience in our communities and our victim
services providers, and bringing hope and hiealing to all victims and survivors;
NOW, THEREFORE BE FF RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims the meek of
April 19, 2820 through April 25, 2020 as Crime Victims' Rights Week. The Board of Supervisors reaffirms the County's
commitmeritto creating a, victim, service and criminaljustice response that assists all victims of crime during Crime Victims'
Rights Week and throughout the year; and express sincere gratitude and appreciation for those community members,
victim service providers, and criminal justice professionals who remain committed to improving the response tovictims
sothey may find relevant support, justice, and peace.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 14 Ih day of April, 2020, by the following vote:
