HomeMy WebLinkAboutB20-0642 CF Exemption Request 2020 Exemption Letter.docx 04-14-2020 John Gaddie, Fire Captain CAL Fire-Butte County Fire Department 176 Nelson Avenue Oroville, CA, 95965 RE: 14134 Elmira Circle, Permit # B20-0642 Captain Gaddie, The 2020 California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection SRA Fire Safe Regulations Section1270.06 (a), allows us to request an “Exceptions to Standards” to the authority having jurisdiction. Please consider my request for an exception per the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection SRA Fire Safe Regulations section 1276.01 (a). Section 1276.01(a) states: All parcels shall provide a minimum thirty (30) foot setback for all buildings from all property lines and/or the center of a road. I have attached a proposed site plan providing additional detail to clarify the requested exception. On the attached site plan for the project at 14134 Elmira Circle, you can see that the home is in roughly to same location as the previous home. This configuration leaves room to add a garage to the property in the future, as was included on the property pre-fire. To mitigate fire concerns, I have provided 30’ or more of defensible space on all sides except the right side of the house. Additionally the home will be constructed to WUI standards and will be hardscaped on the side of the building that does not meet the 30’ requirement to add fire safety to this structure. I have read, understood Section 1276.01 and the suggested options to provide the same practical effect. I do thoroughly understand and have great appreciation for defensible space and will ensure that this proposed exception does not present an additional fire hazard or risk to my property.
