HomeMy WebLinkAbout20-044WHEREAS, the week ofMay 3 through May 9, 2020, has been designated as Public Service Recognition, week to
honor employees of the local, State and federal government as well as those members of the uniformed services; and
WHEREAS, locally, public employees make great contributions to their communities by serving in areas such as
|avv enforcement, health can, fire protection, health and human services, resource conservation, land use and road
maintenance; and
WHEREAS, public servants working for Butte County include deputies, probation officers, prosecutors, fine
fighters, nurses, doctors, scientists, safety inspectors, accountants, computer technicians, social workers, animal control
officers, counselors, laborers and countless other positions. Day |mand day out they provide diverse services needed by
the residents of Butte County with efficiency and integrity; and
WHEREAS, public employees don't just take on jobs, but also take oaths to serve, and protect; and
WHEREAS, public employees of the County are committed to exhibiting the highest standards of excellence,
dedication, and creativity, and are amintegral part of inmprovngthequality oflife imour County bvbeing responsive tothe
needs of residents; and
WHEREAS, the effectiveness and efficiency ofgovernment depend ondedicated public employees; and
WHEREAS, Butte County public employees have been tasked with going above the call of duty in emergency
response and recovery over the pastfevvyears from the 2017Spillway Incident -tothe ZOl7,2O1Q,and 2019flood event
to the Wall, Ponderosa, Cherokee, LaPorte, and Honey Fires in 2017 - to the Camp Fire in 2018 - and now COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, Butte County recognizes the dedication and talent ofour public employees and the importamcemfthe
services they provide toour residents; and
WHEREAS, Butte County tells the story of its dedicated employees and the public services they provide through

e�ortsincluding °|anmButte County" and °| `' Butte County" videos, as well as employee recognitions through internal
announcements, media outreach and social media channels.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognize the week of
May 3—May 9,202OesPublic Service Recognition Week; and
BE IT FU�RTHERRESO�LVE[\ residents are encouraged to recognize and express their appreciation for the vital
contributions made daily byour public employees.
