PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
1.Temporary housing is limited to a maximum of two (2) recreational vehicles, travel trailers, truck campers
or movable tiny homes that are self-contained with potable water and sewage disposal tanks, currently
registered with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, and not on a permanent foundation.
2.Occupancy of temporary dwellings is limited to a county resident or residents whose residential dwelling
has been damaged or destroyed by the Camp Fire.
3.The applicant shall have either a signed and submitted Cal OES Right of Entry Agreement, an approved
Alternative Debris Removal Program Pan, or clearance from Butte County Environmental Health that the
property is not subject to either program.
4.Applicants shall keep the temporary dwellings a minimum 100 foot setback from all fire debris or
hazardous materials that have not been removed from the property.
5.Temporary dwellings shall be connected to an approved source of water meeting one of the following
criteria: (a) Public water supply (b) Existing well approved by Butte County Environmental Health, or (c)
Other water source approved by Butte County Environmental Health.
6.Temporary dwellings shall be connected to an approved sewage disposal system meeting one of the
following criteria: (a) Public sewer system; (b) Existing on-site sewage disposal system that has been
approved by Butte County Environmental Health to be intact, adequately sized, and functioning and no
closer that 5 feet from the temporary dwelling; (c) Temporary holding tank with a contract with with a
pumping company for regular pumping; or (d) Other method of sewage disposal approved by
Environmental Health.
7.Temporary dwellings shall be connected to an approved source of electricity meeting one of the following
criteria: (a) Permitted local utility electrical service connection; or (b) Other power source approved by
the Director of Development Services power source.
8.Temporary dwellings shall be located outside of required setbacks established in Chapter 24 of the Butte
County Code.
9.Temporary dwellings shall be located outside of the boundaries of any recorded easements, driveways, and
flood hazard areas.
10.Solid waste shall not be deposited, or disposed of, on the open ground of the subject property, shall be
kept in an appropriate waste receptacle and removed from the property at least once a week in accordance
with Butte County Code sections 31-50 and 31-51 [Failure to Remove Solid Waste].
11.Burning of solid waste is prohibited unless permission is obtained from the County Health Officer and
Butte County Air Quality Management District.
12.The applicant shall comply with the defensible space requirements around the property, pursuant to Public
Resources Code 4291.
13.All temporary dwellings shall be disconnected from utilities and removed from the property no later than
December 31, 2020, or within 30-days of the issuance of the certificate of occupancy, unless an extension
or modification is approved by the Butte County Board of Supervisors.
