Good Evening,
I am writing this evening with some exciting news. DESS was recently awarded a Community
Facilities grant from the USDA to purchase two PodRunners. I have included a link to the company’s
website for your viewing. https://thepodrunner.com/ This company is a local company right here in
Butte County. We were first made aware of these machines during the Ponderosa Fire in 2017 when
we needed to open up the Local Assistance Center after the fire. Since the area was so remote we
needed to bring in cell phone/internet services. PodRunner became a life safer for our operations.
With this grant, we have purchased two Pod Runners and will have one housed in Paradise and the
second in Oroville. This grant award is being officially announced on Monday March 16, at the
Building Resiliency Center in Paradise at 3:30.
