Heads March 15, 2020 Lab Confirmed COVID-19 Cases in Butte County: ZERO Information Update: We still remain at zero cases. It has been a busy weekend for the Communicable Disease staff working with healthcare providers on testing. Without being able to give you an exact, we have processed around 25 tests total. We are still waiting on about 8 results out of those and the rest have been negative. weekend so I will not add that information again here. I will add that the Federal Health and Human Services (HHS) agency held a tele-town hall late yesterday for healthcare providers, public health officials and laboratories. Information was shared about getting more testing capability out as quickly as possible. Butte County Public Health is actively working to try to secure the equipment needed to perform tests so we could start testing in our lab. We do not yet know if this is going to be possible, more to come as we get more information. Dr. Miller did a press conference on Friday and it was live streamed on our Public Health Facebook page. I encourage you to view that for a great overview of the local situation. Yesterday, Butte County Office of Education announced the recommendation for all county schools to close starting today through March 27, 2020. You can find their announcement on their Facebook page. This is a rapidly evolving situation, please note that all information is current as of the time it is written.
