Subject:Continuation of service for Development Services

You may be receiving calls from your constituents and I want to give you the latest information
regarding Development Services. As you know, things are very fluid and we are adjusting as they
evolve. With all the changes going on right now, I want to let you know how we are handling the
continuation of services here at Development Services at this time. We have closed our lobby to
walk-in customers. However, we have moved the majority of our staff to work remotely – they are
available by both email and phone across all divisions (Planning, Building and Code Enforcement).
The Building Division is working through the transition to provide permitting and inspections in a
manner that meets the safety protocols for social distancing. We were positioned well for the digital
submission of plans / permits and have set up a method for dealing with paper submission if there is
no other way for an applicant to submit. Our inspectors will be in the field, but will be working to
maintain the safety protocols and we are providing them the resources to do that. The Building
Division will do meetings by appointment, but are scheduling these throughout the day to ensure
that we have social distancing as required. We are working on a Webinar format to communicate
regularly with the building / construction community to keep them updated on the process and
changes.
The Planning Commission and Zoning Administrator meeting for this month have been cancelled.
We are working on the necessary technology to have public hearing meetings and will reschedule
those meetings as soon as we have the capability to run the meetings. The planners are continuing
to work remotely and prepare projects materials.
Our staff has done a tremendous job in a very short time to make sure that we are able to provide
our services through this crisis. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions that you
have.
Thanks.
