We are all dealing with the COVID-19 virus together, and we will get through this together. We continue to work with our partners at Butte County Public Health and Office of Emergency Management in our efforts to contain and mitigate the spread of this virus. The Governor’s Executive Order asking all residents statewide to stay home is not cause for panic. We ask that you all continue to practice proper social distancing and our hope is for voluntary compliance from our community. We can all do our part. Here at BCSO, the day-to- day operations of our patrol deputies have not changed and we will continue answering calls for service and protecting the citizens of Butte County. The Governor’s Executive Order does not prevent people from leaving their homes to get essential items, such as food and medical supplies, engaging in essential business, or going outside to get exercise. In fact, there are many legitimate exceptions to the stay-at-home order, and if you have questions, we encourage you to read the order. We want everyone to practice good judgement and to take care of yourself, your family, and our community. Beginning Saturday, March 28, 2020, the Butte County Jail inmate public visitation will be modified to enhance public safety and promote social distancing. All inmate visiting times will remain unchanged for all housing units. However, each inmate will only be allowed one visit per week, and limited contact visits. Saturday: Inmates whose last name’s start with A-L. Sunday: Inmates whose last name’s start with M-Z. The BCSO Records Division will remain open as usual Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing essential services to the community. In order to best accommodate the public with their requests for services, we encourage everyone to call the Records Division at (530) 538-7391 prior to showing up. The Records Division will still be providing the following essential services for the community: registering and updating Sex Registrant information, processing vehicle releases for vehicles that were impounded, processing and releasing necessary reports to victims, and Live Scan services for those deemed critical needs; such as EMT’s, IHSS, and child care providers. Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, The Records Division will be temporarily postponing the issuing of any permits obtained through our Records Division, and temporarily postponing non- essential services, such as general Live Scans for employment and/or volunteer opportunities. We have received inquiries regarding expiring CCW permits. If your CCW permit is set to expire during the stay-at-home order, we are extending the permit for the duration of the order, within Butte County. The BCSO Civil Division will be processing all services as normal. The only delay in services at this time will be the execution of a Writ of Possession in eviction cases. We are still accepting them, but the date in which the service is provided will be postponed to a future date, not determined at this time. “We’ve been through crisis situations before and we came out of them stronger than before. We will do it again. Listen to Public Health guidelines. Use common sense. And remember, we are Butte County strong,” said Sheriff Kory Honea. ### Megan McMann Community Relations Coordinator Butte County Sheriff’s Office (530) 538-6670 (530) 693-7054 (cell) mmcmann@buttecounty.net
