Good news. Thank you. $¤¡±  ,´¢¤±® Butte County Supervisor District 2 269 E. 3rd St., Ste. 100 Chico, CA 95928 Appointments: 530-891-7535 Mobile: 530-552-2030 From: Schmidt, Dennis Sent: Sunday, March 22, 2020 10:09 AM To: BOS Cc: Clerk of the Board; McCracken, Shari Subject: Cal Recycle Organics Grant - Cycle 4 Good morning, The Board may remember staff submitted a professional services contract for approval on October 8, 2019, to retain R3 Consulting to provide a number of services at the Neal Road Recycling and Waste Facility, including budget and rate review, along with an “as needed” task to assist staff with drafting a grant for the Cal Recycle SB 1383 program. You can see the agenda item here.. https://buttecounty.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=710&meta_id=110577) This grant was developed by R3 and County staff, and a Resolution was brought to the Board for approval at the November 5, 2019. You can see the agenda item here… https://buttecounty.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=720&meta_id=113202 We were notified last week that it appears that Butte County was successful with this grant application – this grant will provide up to 3 million dollars towards construction of an on-site organics waste compost facility. It is important to note that the approval process is not final at this point, there is a procedure in which agencies can review the rankings and protest the findings. There were a total of 31 grants submitted for this cycle, and only 6 grants have been provided preliminary notification of approval. Awards recommended to: 1.Mendocino County 2.San Diego County 3.Yolo County 4.San Joaquin County (City of Manteca) 5.Butte County 6.LA County This is pretty exciting news, that unfortunately comes at a difficult time to concentrate on developing a whole new diversion process for the Landfill. We have plans to bring an agenda item to the Board just as soon as possible, with a presentation by the Cal Recycle staff to provide more input on the SB 1383 legislation and to discuss the next steps. Please call if you have any questions, and please keep yourself safe during these extraordinary times. Dennis J.
