As you know, things are moving quickly and changing rapidly. As of today, we have started filling resource requests from homeless service providers in Oroville to meet the needs of their clients. This includes working in coordination with Oroville Hospital and Public Health to shelter an individual who is awaiting test results for the virus. We anticipate these requests will increase in the coming days and weeks. The funding for this aspect of the response is being covered by the allocation our County will receive from SB 89 funds the Governor released last week. Secondly, we are working to stand up a Task Force within the Care/Shelter Branch of the EOC to meet the needs of individuals who have NO Support (friends, neighbors, church family, family etc.) to deliver food, medicine and assist with online shopping needs. There WILL NOT be a public number associated with this function. We will receive a warm handoff from either the County Call Center, 211, or Public Health. Potential clients will be screened by DESS staff who will determine if the individual meets criteria for the service and all other resources have been exhausted. I will let you know when we have “gone live” on this service. We are working very closely with the local Homeless Service Providers to meet the needs of the homeless/unsheltered populations during this pandemic. The CoC will have a meeting tomorrow to determine how they would like their allocation of the emergency funding the Governor released to support the impacted Homeless/Unsheltered population. Currently, we are recommending the dollars focus on the shelters supporting the immediate needs of their client base and the supportive services that are required. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
