Subject:FEMA Two Month Waiver for Rent on TT and MHU for Camp Fire Survivors
Date:Monday, April 6, 2020 10:45:30 AM
Good morning Board Members –
CalOES notified the County that FEMA approved a waiver to defer the collection of rent two months
for Camp Fire survivors receiving direct housing. These are households living in FEMA Travel Trailers
and Manufactured Housing Units. FEMA was planning to collect rent beginning May 13, 2020, but
that will be deferred two months due to COVID-19.
The County submitted a request to CalOES, and the State submitted it to FEMA, to request rent be
waived completely for the remainder of the extension period (one year). We will work with OES to
continue to advocate for the rent waiver for the full period of housing assistance.
We are waiting to hear from CalOES on when and how the households receiving direct housing will
be notified of the rent deferment.
Thank you.
Casey
