They designated one FMS for Region 3. This cache is the beds and supplies only, we had to provide a building and secure staffing for the FMS. We worked with Enloe Hospital to secure the rehab hospital building in Chico and Enloe will be able to staff and provide wraparound services such as laundry, food, etc. since it is near the hospital in Chico. The FMS is designed for low-acuity patients, not COVID patients. Low acuity patients from within the region can be housed in the FMS, therefore freeing up hospital beds for COVID patients. The FEMA team will be unloading the supplies today and plan to start setting up soon after. They have requested that we not do a press release or press conference until after they have completed set up because they ran into media and other issues in Redding and at other sites. We are trying to comply with this request. Our PIO will work with the County PIO, Enloe PIO and Chico PIO to be prepared to release something as soon as the set-up is complete.
