Good morning Board Members.
In March we received notice the County was awarded a CalHOME Disaster Assistance grant, details
in email below.
The County was awarded $10,080,000 from CalHOME to provide housing reconstruction or
rehabilitation loans to low and moderate income households affected by the Camp Fire.
We are still waiting on the grant agreement from the State. Once we get the grant agreement, we
will establish a process for taking in applications. We anticipate using an online form to establish a
list of interested applicants. This form can be completed by an applicant directly, by a County staff
member when an applicant calls to express interest, or by a case manager/other agency staff who
may be helping an applicant. The idea is to have flexibility and widespread access.
We will announce the details for how fire survivors apply once we have the standard agreement and
the authority to spend grant funds.
We continue to keep our focus on Camp Fire recovery while navigating the current response to
COVID-19.
Thank you for understanding.

Subject: County Awarded CalHOME Disaster Assistance Program
Good morning Board Members –
We have some good news to start off the week. The County was awarded $10,080,000 from
CalHOME to provide housing reconstruction or rehabilitation loans to low and moderate income
households affected by the Camp Fire. CalHOME funds are a grant to the County and structured as
loans to the homeowners to fill the gaps for low and moderate income households who want to
rebuild single family homes after damage or destruction by the Camp Fire. The Town was awarded
about $23,000,000 for the same program.
The notice that the County’s grant application was awarded is the first step. Next the State will
provide the County with a grant agreement, which includes a number of conditions the County must
complete before the program can begin. One of the those conditions is developing the guidelines for
how the program will operate. One of the details we will develop is how Camp Fire survivors express
interest for the program. We anticipate developing a waiting list, but we are not quite there yet
since we do not have the grant agreement from the State.
Our best estimate is that we may be able to begin the program by this summer if all goes smoothly
with the State’s timeline.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks.
Casey
