It was also announced by Congressman LaMalfa. We were not aware of the grant award and only learned about it through the news which is unusual. https://lamalfa.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/hhs-grants-2-million-to-butte-county-for-substance-abuse- mental-health Post Campfire and Pre-COVID19 we pursued this HHS grant in order to expand our outreach and engagement of older adults who were considered at risk due to isolation and stress from the Campfire. We reached out to one of our contractors who works with older adults (Passages) about their willingness to partner with us on this and they agreed to partner with us if the grant was awarded. Part of this this grant is for 1 million dollars for BCBH and will allow Passages to expand their staffing to provide more outreach and screening of older adults throughout Butte County for mental health and SUD issues. Passages staff will also train BCBH clinicians to enhance their skills while working with older adults. The end result is more outreach will be occurring to older adults and subsequently more treatment made available to those most in need. This grant is for 18 months. It was supposed to be awarded earlier with an April start date however COVID19 st delayed the process. We are planning on a July 1 start with grantor approval. If you have any questions please let me know.
