Please exercise judgment before opening .. attachments, clicking on links, or replying. Dear Supervisors: Every year we complain, and every year it gets worse. My husband and I moved to Feather Falls in 1994 while we were still working to have a retirement home. When marijuana was voted on and approved, we attended many Supervisors meetings regarding legalities. Over the years the county has become a free for all in growing pot. None of the rules apply, and nobody does anything but maybe put a "lien" on bare property with an illegal well, illegal grading, and illegal numbers of plants. A lien is a joke! No large fines; no jail time; nothing? There are people bragging about the money they are making...and not paying a penny in taxes. Up to a million dollars! People are coming from all over to Butte County to grow because all you need is to put up a "GATE", and not even the police will Dare to even walk around it. Many have no fences to the gates. And, Code Enforcers have no power to do anything. The crime is another story. Last year a guy was growing up the mountain from us, and so no one would notice all the trucks delivering soil, he paid another guy to grade an old dirt trail that was on our property to get down the mountain without being seen. We put a cable up with red flags on it and a Keep Out sign. They managed to move the cable and go through our property anyway, bypassing the irate neighbors above. And how about that young mans murder on Craigs Access? This year growers are brazenly putting up huge Green houses that are all lit up at night for their "year-round" harvests. I have one more complaint...When the code enforcers leave a note on a growers gate that they will be back in 72 hours, (or whatever it says) the growers have that much time to load the plants into a truck and take them temporarily to another grow. They always stay a step ahead because they know exactly what they can get away with. One year they have 30 plants. The next year it is 60 and it keeps going up. Trees are cut down, roads are graded, fences go up and the plants go in the ground. And when they finish harvesting in the Fall they take it all back to where they live to sell and spend the money. No tax benefit for Butte County at all. Just destruction of our beautiful mountains, and lifestyle. Sincerely, Maxine & Dana Malta Feather Falls
