I hope you and your families are staying safe. Please know that this won’t last forever, and that the State and federal governments are already planning for the time they can reduce the restrictions. We will get back to the activities we miss and will have the opportunity to gather with our friends and families again. We’re just not there quite yet. Until that time, please take care of yourselves as you are taking care of family, friends, and the people who depend on County services. The stay at home order is working, thanks to all of you that are following best practices such as staying at home except for essential activities, maintaining physical distance in public, washing your hands, and staying home if you are sick. Today,I wanted to provide you a brief update on County Operations. Continuity of Operations Departments continue to provide most services, either on-line, via phone, by appointment, or in-person where statutorily required. Approximately half of the County employees have County-issued cell phones to enable remote work, and about 700 employees have remote network access so that they can work from home. Where County employees are not available on-site or remotely, the County is utilizing grant funding through the Alliance for Workforce Development to employ displaced workers from local businesses as temporary workers. We are using this partnership to support the COVID-19 Call Center and to assist in more frequent cleaning of facilities following CDC guidelines. To-date,699 employees have needed to access theEmergencyPaid Sick Leave provided in response to COVID-19. This represents approximately 30% of the County’s workforce. Guidance/Protocols The County has issued a number of guidance and protocols in response to questions from departments and employees, and they are available on theHuman Resources page of the County’s Intranet. Please check back periodically, as new information is added. FAQ Employee Safety Ergonomic Guidelines for Temporary Telecommuters during COVID-19 COVID-19 Response Protocol (for response to a suspected or confirmed exposure to COVID-19 in a County facility) CDC Recommendation Regarding Cloth Face Covering (cloth face covers were sent to departments this week) In closing, we will continue to provide County guidance, if State guidance is not sufficient, and as questions arise from departments and employees around COVID-19 issues. I hope you all enjoy what should be a beautiful weekend.
