HEGAN LANE PAVEMENT REHABILITATION
CHICO, Calif.-- Knife River Construction will be begin the Hegan Lane Pavement Rehabilitation Project on
th
Monday, April 27, 2020. The project limits are from the Union Pacific Railroad tracks westerly to Dayton Road,
a distance of 2.4 miles. This project will rebuild the roadway’s foundation by pulverizing the existing asphalt,
adding in 3-5% of dry cement, watering, compacting, and then replacing of all the asphalt concrete surfacing.
This project will improve the load carrying capacity of the roadway and result in a much smoother roadway
surface with an anticipated 30 year design life. This project is funded by Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation
Account (RMRA) funds.
Motorists, pedestrians and bicycles that travel this route should expect 20 minute delays during the period of

April 27 to June 12 and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time period. If motorists must
travel through the work zone, they are urged to use caution and to obey the directions provided by traffic
control personnel. Public Safety emergency traffic will be given priority, and delays should be minimal. The
roadway surface may be gravel, and may not be appropriate for all vehicles and bicycles. The hours of
construction for this work are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
All work is being performed in strict conformance with State and Local COVID-19 social distancing rules and
hand sanitization guidelines, with the goal of keeping the County’s critical infrastructure projects moving
forward.
