Board Members,
I’m pleased to announce that EDA has provided us formal notice that the County was awarded the
$539,000 grant Casey applied for last year. As a reminder, the grant will fund the Economic and
Community Development limited-term position your Board approved earlier in the year, for three
years. The position’s primary focus, as required by the EDA, will be Camp Fire recovery, though that
will obviously overlap with COVID-19 recovery. I am also happy to announce that after a competitive
recruitment I have offered the position to Jennifer Macarthy who previously served in this capacity
for the County. Jennifer will start at the end of May and we will transition responsibilities for
economic and community development from Casey to Jennifer at that time.
