Happy Friday everyone!
With everything as is it is right now, I wanted to give a quick update on this month’s Development
Services activity. As you know, we are providing most of our services digitally with our field
personnel (inspectors and code enforcement officers) observing the safety protocols and social
distancing while in the field. We have also added the following permits to our online permitting
capabilities:
Electric Service-Residential
Standby Generator – Residential
Private Garage/Shop
Limited AG
Power Walls-Batteries
Fire Suppression-Residential
Solar Ground Mounted Residential
Demolition
Antenna Co-Locate
So far in the month of April, we have had the following:
Residential Building Permits
26 – Total
12 – SFD (stick built)
14 – MHU (mobile homes)
11 – Camp Fire Re-builds
Code Enforcement Cases
31 AVA
6 Building
16 Camping
5 Junk in Public
7 Cannabis
1 Zoning
Planning Permits / Applications
10 Admin Permits (camping, temporary housing, construction staging)
1 Lot line adjustment
1 Variance
1 Tentative Parcel Map (4 lots)
rd
In addition, we held the first Virtual Planning Commission meeting on Apr. 23 and it was a
success. Everyone was completely remote and we were able to have people call-in during the public
hearings to give input or submit written comments during the meeting as well as prior to the
meeting using the WebEx platform. This included a PowerPoint presentation on each of the items
that was shared via the screen-share feature so the public could see it. We are setting up all of the
Zoning Administrator and Planning Commission meetings for the near future up in this format to
allow for public engagement in our public hearing processes.
There are a number of long range planning projects that are moving forward as well. In May we will
be bring the contract for the Climate Action Plan update to the Board. This was funded as part of our
SB2 grant. We are also posting a RFP for the Upper Ridge Community Plan project today. This project
was granted funded in part through a grant we received from the North Valley Community
Foundation. Planning firms will have a month to respond and then we will evaluate and bring a
contract to the Board in July.
We have been working for the past couple months on a multi-departmental response to a complex
Code Enforcement case we have on Nimshew. We have engaged staff from every department that is
dealing with these violations and are coordinating a response to address the health and safety
concerns that have been created by the property owner. We have a meeting scheduled for next
week and will keep the Board posted as things progress.
We will continue to look at implementing efficiencies and other methods to serve our community
during this current crisis and make those improvements where possible. Please let me know if
anyone has any questions.
Thanks.
