Note that the North Complex West Zone is based on operational boundaries, not Butte County boundary lines. In Butte County specifically, the total acreage burned is estimated at 91,319. Total acres burned in the overall North Complex Fire covering Butte and Plumas counties is 291,200 acres with 62% containment. Current Situation: On the afternoon of September 8, 2020 the North Complex fire entered Butte County with a vengeance, driven by extreme winds, heavy dry fuels, and steep terrain. The fire crews continue to reinforce all lines, and are making good progress. The western and southern perimeters of the fire lines are holding and hose is being removed from some of those areas. As you can see on the incident map this is indicated with a black boarder line. The area between Forbestown and Strawberry Valley (Divisions C and D) continue to be an area of concern as there is heavy fuel and steep terrain. Crews are working to put in new lines in this area and hope to have better containment of this section in the next few days as we should have calm weather. A spot fire did develop across the South Forth of the Feather River last night and has burned 150 acres. Firefighters continue to work on containing that spot which has remained within the established fire lines. Weather: Today: Widespread haze and smoke. Evacuees can enter their address into the search bar to find information. Field damage inspection is still ongoing and data is subject to change as information is gathered and verified. Here is a link to the Structure Damage Map: https://tinyurl.com/y3jmzxnj Law Enforcement Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies, staff and mutual aid continue to patrol evacuated areas and support road blocks to inhibit people from entering the burned areas. BCSO has responded to 188 welfare check requests for persons. The Law Enforcement Staging Area is at the at Loafer Creek boat ramp. Law enforcement is also working with the staff on animal evacuation situations. BCSO is working with Alameda County to produce aerial maps to release to the public. These maps are now available on the BCSO web site. They are working on a tutorial video which will explain how to read and use these maps, more information to come. BCSO has opened a call center to assist residents who do not have access to the internet to be able to obtain information on evacuation orders and warnings in their area. The call center will be staffed by volunteers and open 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday thru Sunday (7 days a week), until it is no longer needed. BCSO will have the escort program ready to start taking request on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. This service will enable residents to enter their property for a limited amount of time when conditions are safe with a sheriff escort. Evacuation Orders Evacuation orders remain in effect for: Berry Creek, Brush Creek, Big Bend, and Feather Falls communities (C & D Division) Evacuation Warnings(as of 1120hrs 2020-9-19) Butte County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following Evacuation Warnings: Highway 162 from Bidwell Bard Bridge to Simmons Rd. Simmons Rd to Big Ridge Rd, including all roads that connect with Simmons Rd. Big Ridge Rd will remain closed. Highway 70 from the West Branch Bridge north to Pulga Rd. All areas east to the north fork of the Feather River including the Community of Yankee Hill and the Big Bend area. Area enclosed by Highway 162 from Miner’s Ranch Rd to Forbestown Rd to the Butte County line on the north. Swedes Flt Rd on the south. Miner’s Ranch Rd to Swedes Flat Rd on the west perimeter. County line on the East perimeter. Highway 162 from Forbestown Rd, north to the Bidwell Bar Bridge to include both sides of the roadway. Closed Non-Congregate Sheltering Currently there are 1,457 individuals in hotel rooms, equating to 627 rooms. Case workers are contacting evacuees to assess transition back to their home as evacuation orders and warnings allow. Direct outreach is also being done to assist evacuees that are sheltering in parking lots, to assess their needs and let them know what resources are available. Public Health Public Health has the first part of their urgency ordinance ready for the special Board meeting this Wednesday and they continue to work on obtaining staff to screen for COVID at the LAC. Animal Evacuation Centers Small Animals – There are now two shelters for small animals. The original one at the Old County Hospital located at 2279 Del Oro in Oroville is at capacity. On Saturday, the County EOC secured a second facility at 521 Cal Oaks in Oroville. This shelter is currently accepting small, domestic animals between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Large Animals – Camelot Equestrian Park, 1985 Clark Road, Paradise. The site has been very active with large animals. This facility has available capacity. Total Animals in Shelters: 461 (Camelot: 215, Del Oro: 130 and Cal Oaks: 116) Staff are still accepting small animals at the Cal Oak facility and there is room at Camelot for large animals. Reunification is moving slowly as staff continues to identify animals. As animals are reunified microchipping and vaccinations are offered. Staff continue to work on the deceased animal list to be able to publish this for residents. County staff continue to work on vegetation removal, cutting down high hazard trees, and mastication of vegetation. Crews has started clean up on Forbestown Rd. Donations Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no physical donations are being accepted.
