Please exercise judgment before opening .. attachments, clicking on links, or replying. Good Morning All, The west zone of the North Complex is winding down. We are pulling out the last of the hose and repairing the dozer throughout the fire area. It is not uncommon for fires of this size to have heat and smoke well within containment lines visible to the public for weeks. This residual heat/smoke is rarely a threat but does cause concern for the public. We expect to respond to smoke complaints within the fire area until it rains. We are closely monitoring the situation along Hwy 70 near Rock Creek. We are prepared to suppress the fire should the USFS be unsuccessful in doing so. The good news is the majority of the active fire is in Plumas County just east of the Plumas/Butte County boundary. Unfortunately that situation can change quickly if the wind blows again. We are establishing fire control lines on the north side of Hwy 70 which will limit the fires spread should it cross over. I am confident that we will keep it from impacting the communities of Yankee Hill, Concow, Paradise, Magalia Stirling City and Forest Ranch. We are leaning on the USFS to ensure there is timely and accurate fire information flowing to us, the EOC and BCSO. Weather forecasts are hinting to an early fall storm impacting our region with rain as early as this Friday. I hope it holds true. Have a great weekend! John Messina Fire Chief
