Good morning all –
Brief update from this morning’s EOC briefing for the North Complex Fire. Again – the EOC is in
Operational Period 14 which runs through 8:00pm Friday evening.
Reports out of CalFire and USFS are positive with regard to the fire activity near Hwy 70. The
weather and air have been cooperating – allowing helicopters to assist. If all goes well today –
CalFire will start to redeploy staff. For the rest of the region of the fire within Butte County, Butte
County Fire continues with mop up duties (that will likely continue for about a month).
Highway 70 has one lane open at this time.
The weekend weather is a bit unpredictable at this point. While some precipitation is expected –
wind is also a potential. The hope is for more precipitation…less wind. Stay tuned as we get closer to
the weekend.
The number of people in shelters is continuing to decline. There are 452 individuals in non-
congregate shelters in 218 rooms. The hotline remains busy with around 150 calls/day – totaling
2,870 calls to date. The Local Assistance Center plans to close on Friday.
Animals being sheltered also continues to decline. There are 311 animals being sheltered. A focus is
being made on reunification. 147 large animals and 164 small.
The structure of the DROC is ramping up. The EOC will remain active until all of the people and
animals no longer require shelter. Unless the situation changes or new information comes forward,
there will not be an evening report.
Please let me know if you have any questions…
