please see the attached post that I put out on Facebook today. (One thing that I have just recently discovered is that
Doug Teeter did vote yes and I could swear he told me yesterday that he had voted no on the Chapter 53 camping
extension)
Thank you supervisors for reading this!!
Doug Teeter came to my home yesterday to talk to me about our issues with the Chapter 53 camping ordinance
extension !
I appreciate him stopping by and taking time to talk to me. (He declined having a meeting with all of us citing Covid
restrictions as the reason.)
He had just toured the Magalia area ( with a sheriff deputy accompanying him) He stated he was also concerned!
He says that we need to get the other four supervisors on board and be sending them emails, pictures and calls
regarding our concerns.
this is what I would like to see happen.
1-require that anybody in an RV be connected to utilities.
2-All RVs should be currently registered
3-Extensions being made for people that can prove that they are in the rebuild process
4- allow only the property owner to be camping on their property.
5- come up with a plan to help the homeless that are squatting 6-create a permit process that is affordable
7- limit the number of RVs per property
8- issue citations for noncompliance with followup
I have heard that there are people buying a property so that they can allow RVs to live on them in a rental
agreement. (How many of these people would be rebuilding - probably none! )
I discussed with Doug that my understanding of the Chapter 53 was to help those of us that lost our homes in the
Camp Fire and are rebuilding (the gray area comes in where the ordinance also mentions people that were displaced.
That could be anybody and their dog)
So what we’re seeing happening is People are living in sheds, they are living in dog kennels, they are living in tents
and not having trash service or any way to dispose of their raw sewage. And they are inviting all their homeless
friends on their property which has resulted in our neighborhood having as much as six RVs on one lot. end it
has brought in non-campfire survivors as well as drugs and crime. If it’s not tied down they will take it from you just
like the fences that are being stolen off all the properties.
So my understanding from Doug is we have to get all the supervisors aware of our concerns (BTW Doug said he
voted “no” on the extension).
Here is your contact information to send emails or call the board of supervisors office.
When you email put in the subject line
“FOR ALL SUPERVISORS!” .
