Good morning all – quick update from our 9:00am EOC briefing today.
FIRE UPDATE:
USFS notes the fire is still within the same footprint to the eastside of Hwy 70 ad the lines
are holding well.
Fire is 90% contained at this point.
They are focusing now on mop up work and patrolling the fire burn area
The rain is the forecast for this weekend is pretty much down to nothing at this point;
although the cooler temps will help. Dry winds are still anticipated later in the weekend and
early into next week –although the severity of the winds is also predicted to be less at this
point.
They are hoping to eliminate all warnings in Plumas today (Buck’s Lake area).
CARE AND SHELTER:
There are 262 animals still being sheltered at three sites. 104 large animals and 158 small.
There are 359 individuals housed in 175 hotel/rooms throughout N. Cal. Work continues to
get them closer to home.
LAC will be closing today.
o 2,291 individuals served and 1,286 applications filed.
PSPS EVENT
As noted above, the wind event for this weekend has been downgraded, and at this time,
PG&E is not anticipating a PSPS event.
The weather models due show a potential wind event later next week/mid-month.
GENERAL:
Logistics has processed 1,310 resource requests for this incident!
EOC support staff have logged in over 20,000 regular hours and 19,000 overtime hours, in
the response/support of this event! This does NOT include fire.
DROC is ramping up.
We will be looking to move to a 2 week operational period beginning this evening – running
from 8:00pm Friday 10/9 through 8:00pm Friday 10/23. We continue to need EOC support
for Care and Shelter. We will also be moving our daily briefings to two days/week (on
Tuesday and Thursday).
There will be an EOC planning meeting at 4:00 today to firm up the details of the next operational
period.
