Good afternoon Board –
A couple of quick updates on the Butte Choice Energy program.
First - the City of Oroville, last night, took steps forward in joining BCE. This is great news!
With that said – there is some unfortunate news on the timing of the program. We had hoped to
launch the program in 2021 – however, COVID has had some significant impacts on the credit
market this year – which required us to push the project back to a later date. Now - after further
reviewing other critical components that impact the fiscal feasibility of the program – the BCE Board
decided this last Monday to push the program back to 2023.
I plan on giving the entire Board a more thorough briefing on this topic at the BOS meeting on
Tuesday.
The media is asking lots of questions on this topic now, due to Oroville’s actions last night – and I just
took an interview with a reporter from KRCR…so I wanted you all to be aware of these two
components, prior to it being on the news.
