Subject: PSPS Update 1000 10/24/2020
Good morning,
Here are my notes gathered from PGE information, our call and also the Cal OES statewide call:
Attached is the October 24 AM situation report for the PSPS Sunday through Tuesday. PG&E
Meteorology is tracking a dry and potent weather system that is expected to move through the
territory Sunday into Monday and generate strong and gusty northeast winds increasing through the
day Sunday, peaking Sunday night into Monday, and possibly lingering in some regions
through Tuesday. Although details are still evolving, sustained winds of 15-30 mph and widespread
gusts to 40-50+ mph are possible across large portions of the territory. Relative humidity values will
also plummet to the single digits and teens with the onset of winds allowing for critically dry
conditions and fuels being very receptive to ignition. The areas with the highest probability of being
affected by PSPS for this event are the adjacent terrain of the northern and western Sacramento
Valley, Northern and Central Sierra, as well as higher terrain of the Bay Area, including the Santa
Cruz Mountains, Central Coast Region and portions of southern Kern.
Total PGE outages for Butte County are 18,672 customers of those, 1,798 are medical baseline.
1,398 of the medical baseline customers have been reached as of this time, PGE will continue with
calls and door knocks to attempt reaching all medical baseline customers. Our event could last
through Tuesday night with re-energization starting on Wednesday. This is still an evolving event.
Dan Blair will check on the weekend availability of the Disability Action Center for AFN assistance.
Our AFN population has used this service to a large extent in past events.
As it stands currently, the timing for de-energization is between noon and 1600 hours Sunday. This
event is including those from last week as well as East Oroville, Kelly Ridge, Palermo and Bangor.
Pending the duration of the wind, which is still evolving and subsequent patrols and repairs if
needed, restoration of the circuits is estimated by end of day Tuesday or possibly Wednesday
depending on conditions. Community Resources Centers (CRCs) are established or are being
established in Butte County as follows: Forest Ranch (American Veterans Store, 15477 Forest Ranch
Way), Magalia (Magalia Pines Baptist Church, 14098 Skyway), Paradise (Lutheran Church, 780 Luther
Dr.) Oroville (Southside Community Center, 2959 Lower Wyandotte Rd.) and Bangor (Bangor
Community Center, Oro Bangor Hwy). CRCs will be open October 25, 2020 at 0800 and hours of
operation are 0800 to 2200 hrs until restoration is complete.
The PSPS portal is up to date for those of you with log-on accounts
at https://pspsportal.pge.com/ and you may request an account through that web link as well. In
addition, the following web link https://www.ventusky.com/ provides forecast weather attributes,
including wind, wind gusts and humidity, and using the “Change date” option at the bottom of the
page can show you forecast weather information. Also, here is a link to information about
generator safety https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/electrical-safety/electric-generator-
safety/electric-generator-safety.page
If you are interested a recap statewide is as follows:
