Progress continues to be made with the fire…here are some details of today’s events: o Damage assessment teams continue work and report new numbers 2-3 times/day: Damaged homes – 35 Destroyed homes – 815 Damaged commercial – 5 Destroyed commercial – 51 Damaged other – 37 Destroyed other – 393 Total acres in County – 79,488 and 45% containment Total acres – 287,354 and 54% containment o Work continues in many impacted areas: More good work today. Clipper Mills and Forbestown continue to be a challenge and at this time – however are making continued improvements on those fire lines. Aircrafts have been able to attack this area today with clear skies. They have a few more challenging days in these areas. o Weather: Quiet weather day today…cooler, less wind and clear skies. Winds have settled – no red flag warnings around the fire areas. Slow dry and warming trend is coming (not hot, just warm). No significant weather changes for the next 7 days. Sheriff Updates: o Evacuation orders changed again today. The Butte County Sheriff Office has the most current data on their website. o When areas reopen – only residents will be allowed to enter for the first 24 hours. After that – anyone will be able to enter. o Images are now available of some of the damaged areas, captured via drone. Link is available on the BCSO website. o No new arrests to report. o As of tonight – no reported missing individuals. o No additional human remains found. Death count remains at 15. Care and Shelter o Continuing to work on finding closer locations for evacuated residents. o Working on logistical issues for the Local Assistance Center/LAC which will open at 1875 Feather River Blvd. on Tuesday, open 10am – 6pm M-F, 10am – 4pm Sat, closed on Sunday…estimated to be open 3 weeks. Public Works continues cleanup work in the fire areas – removing damage brush and small trees in the County ROW. EOC Operational Update o The EOC completed another 72 hour planning period beginning tonight for IAP 9 (running tonight through Monday evening at 8:00pm); o Discussions have started internally on the evolution of scaling back the physical EOC and setting up our recovery operations/DROC. Andy will be taking the next shift as EOC Director tomorrow – and Shari will be covering on Sunday. Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
