Media Statement:
Monday’s COVID Case Count to Include Reassigned Cases
Every Monday, Butte County Public Health (BCPH) updates the COVID-19 dashboard to include
cases from Saturday, Sunday and Monday. In addition to the Monday case update, the total
cases reported today will include 21 cases that were originally assigned to another county.
Upon further investigation, these cases were determined to belong to people living in Butte
County.
This jurisdictional transfer of cases can happen if a person is not a permanent resident of
Butte County, but lives here temporarily.
The reassigned cases will be added to the COVID-19 dashboard to the date they should have
been originally reported – most of these cases are from late August/early September. The
total number of confirmed cases in Butte County will include these reassigned cases.
The addition of these cases to Butte County will not impact our daily case rate or tier status.
